  • IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONAL MUSICIAN ON THE HARMONIUM Letter from the exceptional harmonium player and composer to the Parisian music publisher Léon Escudier. Charlotte Alexandre-Dreyfus gave concerts under the name of her first husband, Emmanuel Dreyfus, and performed in the company of her second husband, Isaie Alexandre (married since 1862). She successfully ran a musical salon in Paris, where Hector Berlioz and Alexandre Dumas the Elder also frequented. She played exclusively on the harmonium models of the Parisian company "Alexandre et Fils", whose product range she successfully presented, whereby the similarity of names was conducive. She arranged and composed instrument-specific sheet music. Her technical and artistic brilliance was widely recognized and was not limited to the salons, but was supplemented by public performances, as our letter to her publisher regarding planned concerts in Nice, Marseilles, Lyon and Toulon shows. "Mon cher Monsieur Escudier. Je pars pour Nice, Marseille Lyon, Toulon donner quelques Concerts. Je vou serai bien reconnaissant d'annoncer mon départ et Je vous demanderai la Permission de vous envoyer quelque notes sur mes concerts un peu plus tard ... Mille remerciements d'avances et agree mes Sentimens bien empresses Charlotte Dreyfus". Very rare: no autograph of her in Abebooks and not in bookauctionrecords / JAP-Online.
